East Coast : this is the End !!

Enjoy the Song from "into the Wild"

In the begin of November, i leaved Sydney, I found a travel partner from ads on the Internet. Juraj is Slovak and had roughly the same dates as me ... so we rented a van and we took the road.

Surfer Paradise (town built "on" the beach)

The route is simple, we followed all the east coast from Sydney to Cairns, stopping on the most beautiful places ... few important steps:

Byron Bay: The holiday destination for Sydneysiders ... turquoise and warm waters... village rather quiet despite tourism.

Brisbane: to meet Jeremie I knew by HP and facebook ... (he made application to Horizons). No regret to be stopped there, we came across a bunch of buddies on pleasant and very helpful ... thank you again!

Fraser Island: sandy Island the most bigger on the world (that is very Australian - the record-), the beautiful island or accessed by 4 wheels drive or big 4 wheels drive buses. I do not feel to drive a 4x4 on sand tracks. We finally chose the tour ... very ... tourist. We visited rainforests, the beach, a shipwreck on the beach, a creek with beautiful water (50 people minimum in the water the effect is not the same) and finally Lake Mcenzie and its warm, pure waters and white sand ... Finally a little bit disappointed by the tourist side, but not disappointed by the beauty of the island .

Then Agnes Water and especially Lady Musgrave Reef: This is the beginning of great barrier reef without heavy artillery from tourism. So we spent a full day to snorkel and see colorful fish and turtles.

Noosa: Small town beach that has not been disfigured by large buildings. Visit the National Park and the coast is very nice ... first koala of the east coast.

Airlie Beach and Whitsunday: We arrived in Airlie beach resort or swimming is not highly recommended due to the presence of jellyfish very bad ;-) So they built a lagoon to quench the thirst of bathing tourists waiting for boat to the Whitsundays. For us, it's been two days waiting to sail aboard a brand new boat (partly manufactured in France), Iceberg II.

Magnetic Island: small island located 8 km from the coast, is famous for its walks, but also for its koala population, we therefore made a "hiking" for an afternoon ended with the koalas and an overview on the 'whole island. After Magnetic Island, we wandered into the interior to enjoy the waterfalls and lakes. I could see some freshwater turtles. And we could swim to cool off the heat and humidity of this region ... (Everyone's climate problems ;-)).

We left Cairns for the end and we continued the road to Cape Tribulation ... Part wilder, very green with beautiful rain forests or we could take over some water not infested by crocodiles.

You will notice the size of birds ;-) in fact the cassowaries is an endangered species, it looks like an emu but with a helmet on his head and colors blue and red!

And yet the amazing road signs!

We finished in Cairns where we used the lagoon for barbecues and public (in Australia, it's everywhere and frequently used). Again many French is a bit Broomes of the East Coast.

Juraj I finally landed at the airport. He flew to Malaysia. I made the van and made the lazy Yves met on a French Cairns!

The next day I flew ... while there was complicated, I went twice to the registration (I had to redo my bag was too heavy ...), I did take my knife "fetish" security ... and I had the right to test explosive <- all this is a quick summary, I skipped a lot of intermediate steps.

In short, I am in Sydney ... held each evening to review some friends from Australia and do a goodbye ... Thursday, December 3, I flew to Malaysia for ten days before my return to France ...

Here there are the Christmas decoration, but with 25-30 ° C, this is really not the same!

Conclusion: One year it gone very quikly ... but no regrets, I'm happy to return to France. i am convinced that everything has changed. Everyone became friendly, motorists leave the priority ... Now we ve got a good president not a puppet! Swine flu was a big joke of Bachelot, crisis a joke of Eric voerth, Eric Besson, a joke all by himself ... If this is not the case, tell me ... it's not too late for a second visa!
